8 Day Scuba Certification & Yoga Retreat

Costa Rica is known as a hotspot for surfing, yoga and eco-tourism, but only a few people know that a lot of travellers visit the country to obtain their Scuba Diving Certification. With its pristine beaches and clear waters, Montezuma’s beaches in Costa Rica are host to a large variety of marine life such as whales, dolphins, turtles, octopus and more – which can all be found as you dive deep into the beautiful sea. Nestled along this stunning coastline is the Anamaya Resort, offering guests a week-long retreat that includes delicious organic meals, beautiful accommodations with incredible views, yoga classes overlooking the ocean, and your scuba certification. Their retreats run from Saturday to Saturday ensuring you’ll have a week filled with fun, excitement and relaxation!

During this 8-day scuba certification and yoga retreat, you will be undergoing the CMAS International Diver Training Certification System to get certified. CMAS is the original Scuba training program, founded by Jaques Cousteau himself. These certifications are equal or better than PADI, and are recognized by all scuba diving companies around the world. Anamaya Resort also works with a local company called the Montezuma Crew. It is a professional and fun group consisting of a CMAS Dive Captains, CMAS Guides, and a Marine Biologist with the passion for Costa Rica, diving, and discovery.

The Scuba Certification and Yoga Retreat includes up to 10 yoga classes throughout the week. Yoga is a fantastic accompaniment to your scuba diving training as it will improve your breathing and enhance your strength and endurance which assists your swimming technique, among many additional benefits. You will practice an energizing flow every morning before breakfast on the main yoga deck overlooking 270 degrees of epic ocean and coastline views. Then in the early evening just before sunset the team will hold a more relaxing and restorative type of practice on the lower deck. Some people may require more dives in the pool before the instructors are confident they’re ready for the ocean. You will never be pushed into doing something you’re not ready and confident to do. The head instructor, Michele, is proud that in 20 years of diving instruction, he has only had enjoyable and successful dives with all retreat guests.

The cost of this retreat includes your scuba certification training, 10 yoga classes, accommodation and 3 delicious and healthy meals a day. Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime with Anamaya Retreat.

Anamaya Resort is dedicated to using organic produce whenever possible, and are constantly seeking out new sources of organic foods in Costa Rica. Some are grown locally and some are brought from other parts of Costa Rica, especially the higher altitudes where foods will grow organically that can’t survive the beach climate. In addition, they're working on importing some organic dry goods and spices that are unavailable locally.

Anamaya now grow some of their produce on their own farm at Rancho Delicioso, and are working to increase the percentage of their own crops. The food is so popular that due to guest requests Anamaya have released their own cook book for guests to take home the flavours of their experience.
