HOURS + TOPICS

This includes refinement of asana, pranayama, and meditation techniques and theories. Create deeper awareness of your own yoga practice and cultivate awareness and embodiment and explore your practice with expert cues on alignment, connecting with the subtle body, and working with where you are. You will gain exposure to active Vinyasa, slow-flow Vinyasa and restorative practices that integrates many styles and create your teaching repertoire. Sub-topics to be tackled are as follows: analysing several poses including asana benefits, alignment, contraindications, variations and modifications.

Through this topic, cultivate a meditation practice with expert guidance that draws on ancient yogic and Buddhist lineages and find your unique yogic practice and lifestyle and integrate that into your daily spiritual life.

Lectures work to unify both Eastern & Western wisdom in a practical way - using ancient techniques and knowledge and applying it to a modern day setting. Expand your knowledge and wisdom of the body through Anatomy & Physiology study, and directly relate how anatomy affects asana alignment and how to cue this with ease.

An introduction to elements of the subtle body, including chakras will be given and you will become intelligent in learning the relationship of yoga on the body’s nervous system. You'll also study differences in people and their anatomical structure to inform how to sequence and adjust with accurate touch and accessible language.

This covers how to transition from a student to a teacher, including finding your own authentic way to teach and how to use modifications, props and physical and vocal cues to teach a successful and safe class.

Develop skills in cueing and language that reflects simplicity and precision while learning to hold space and cultivate present awareness as a teacher. Practice embodying the “seat of the teacher” and learn the basics of weaving dharma and philosophy into a yoga class. Learn to teach “off the mat” so you can move, adjust and be present in your classes. Finally, find ways to integrate music to enhance your class experience and make it more fun!

Yogic Philosophy will be presented in a way that resonates with current modern day and practice. Ancient texts and masters will be covered and their lessons presented in a functional and understandable manner.

Demystify dharma and yogic philosophy to gain personal experience with the subject matter and find ways to live it naturally. Learn basic elements of authentic transmission of this wisdom to your students. Finally, you will also be able to practice teaching in a way that is relatable and accessible and to begin learning how to give an effective and authentic dharma talk.

Learn about the greatest gift you can offer to others - cultivate an authentic expression of who you are through self-observation. In this class, understand the fundamentals of compassion, empathy and honesty in your life and your teaching, and find a sense of bravery and courage to express who you are with a “realness” that is uncommon in daily living and allows you to encourage that in others.

Being a yoga teacher not only involves standing up in front of the class to teach - in his module you will focus on how to have a successful career as a teacher including how to run classes, privates, studio openings and marketing.

Explore the fears and discomforts of the “business” side of yoga and money. Uncover your personal obstacles with abundance and breakthrough to live your life more fully, as well as study the basics of business acumen in the yoga world and how to set your career path with identifiable steps.

Teaching yoga involves working with individual anatomies, mindsets, and fitness levels. You will learn how to cater all of these factors into teaching a class.

Develop an “eye” as a teacher being able to see students for where they are. Self-observe the energetic quality of your touch and the practical alignment aspects to better serve your students in hands-on adjustments. Move beyond “one size fits all” adjustments to an understanding that is filled with compassion and wisdom. Finally, you will be able to drop any hindrances on the use of props to integrate them with your teaching of several poses, modifications and variations.

Practicing to teach is a crucial part of learning to be a teacher. Practice sequencing, adjusting and leading classes, as well as assisting other teachers in a supportive environment.

Create sequences, practice and lead classes with expert support and encouragement, as well as innovative sequences that put basic tools in your toolbox for beginning teaching. Key takeaways include cultivating an ability to openly accept feedback and compassionately give to others, and letting go of teaching from where you are, to learn to teach where your students are.

  Nosara, Costa Rica

The peaceful seaside town of Nosara is a world-class destination for surfing and eco-tourism. It is a perfect base to explore the magical coastline and hinterland of Costa Rica. Experience the joy of watching sea turtles lay their eggs, get face-to-face with exotic wildlife, try floating a kayak down a lazy river, or taking your first surf or paddle board lesson.

The town is lined with healthy cafes and yoga studios and the community is an eclectic mix of locals and expats who have decided to call Nosara home. It is one of the few coastal towns that lacks nearly any development on the beach, meaning it is the perfect tranquil location to watch one breathtaking sunset.

The Nosara region is located on the North Pacific Coast of the Nicoya Peninsula, about 100 miles west of the capital, San Jose, and consists of five beachfront towns: Playa Nosara, Playa Garza, Playa Guiones, Playa Pelada, and Playa Ostional. The Ostional Wildlife Refuge borders Nosara and is the largest Olive Ridley turtle nesting site in the world. The Nosara and Montana Rivers are two of the longest in Costa Rica and are also teeming with wildlife.

Just 100 miles west, Nosara is reachable from the San Jose International Airport and 2 hours South from Liberia International airport. You can also reach Nosara easily via shuttle, car, and buses. Once in the Nosara area there are roads and buses connecting the different beach towns.
