This 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa is ideal if you have done quite a bit of yoga and have a basic understanding of what Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga Yoga are. If you do not want to become a Yoga Teacher, you are still welcome to join this journey.


The yoga school offers a residential stays and the packages will ensure that you can fully immerse yourself into your training, your practice and your studies. If you prefer to stay outside of the shala, that is also a possibility and you can complete your YTTC as a non-residential student.

Patnem Beach is beautifully ensconced closer to the southern tip of Goa. Situated close to the more popular Palolem and Agonda beach, it is rated as one of the quietest beaches in entire Goa. Though the waters here are not as calm and protected as you would find in Palolem, it is smaller, less crowded and a significantly friendlier beach.


A fairly quiet beach, it has its share of beach life and activity quotient. Visitors can easily spot the relaxed beach snacks full of yummy local and international cuisine, lively surf, opportunities for swimming enthusiast and some small beach activities.


Goa is connected to the most part of the world via direct flights. The airport is located at Dabolim and there are 3 major railway stations with trains plying to and from every corner of India.


The Patnem beach is about 70-80 km from the airport and 36 kms from the nearest major Railway Station, Madgaon. It is quite conveniently connected via taxis and bus routes from most part of Goa as well.

Food

All the food is sourced locally, so the menu will consist of seasonal fruits and vegetables. Local produce is organically grown and bought on a daily basis. Daily breakfasts, lunches, dinners and refreshments throughout the day are included in your training. All meals are served buffet style with many options for you to choose from. 

Meals will be prepared in an onsite health-based Indian kitchen with wonderful cooks who continue to delight the guest with their multi-cultural specialties.

Meet The Facilitators

 

Syllabus

HOURS + TOPICS

The teaching Methodology Module has been designed to ease you into teaching. Each week, you will be provided with tools to develop your teaching skills. You will build your own 60-minute Vinyasa Flow Class that you will teach during the final week. Teaching Methodology sessions include: Opening a Class, Sequencing for Vinyasa Flow, Concise Instructions, Relaxation Techniques, Corrections and Modifications. Participating in each other’s classes and providing constructive feedback for your peers is a great way to learn and share ideas. Practice time is crucial here and time is allocated for you to practice teaching in order that you feel confident in teaching your peers.

The program offers a strong foundation in Ashtanga Yoga, concentrating on the correct alignment of the postures of the Primary Series. Ashtanga Yoga Led Classes will take place on alternate mornings. Your Lead Teacher will guide you through the full Primary Series, modifying the more complex postures if needed. The Assistant Teachers will support to ensure correct alignment.

Ashtanga Yoga Self-Practice will commence during the 3rd week of your training. Here, you will complete the series, at your own pace and in your own time. Your teachers will then check your alignment and possibly help you get deeper in the posture. 

This is a daily 2-hour session that teaches the alignment of The Primary Series postures. It is an integral part of the 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training in Goa. You will learn about the Skeletal and Muscular Systems and how this applies to postures. The aim is that you leave with an awareness of your own body and its capabilities. During these classes, you will learn how to adjust your own practice in terms of modifying postures to a position that is suitable for you. This class provides the opportunity for us to really assist with your practice on a personal level. It provides the opportunity to explore your strength and flexibility and you will receive tips on how to get the most from your physical practice.

There will be a series of workshops to deliver to help you achieve key postures. Workshops will include Headstand, Chaturanga, Transitions, Arm Balances, Partner Yoga and Back Bending. This Yoga Teacher Training Teachers will give you techniques to get you into some of these milestone postures. You will get lots of useful tips for you to incorporate into your Vinyasa Flow Class.

From your first day, you will be encouraged to bring awareness to your breath. In both Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga Yoga, the breath initiates the movement from posture to posture. It is impossible to progress through the series without the familiarity of the rhythm of your own breath, improving your focus. You will learn Pranayama techniques that will help you to lengthen your breath, increase your lung capacity and strengthen the nervous system. This is an important aspect of yoga. Pranayama is a great way to alleviate stress and tension, something that is often endured in modern society. Pranayama practice will allow you to build mental and emotional strength to help you maintain a healthy sense of wellbeing, not just on the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa but in your everyday life.

Classical Yoga Philosophy is interwoven throughout the program and you will be introduced to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, allowing you to make your own comparisons of classical and contemporary yoga, posing the question, ‘What is Yoga?’ These sessions are a great time for philosophical debate and indeed provided a welcome insight into the views of your fellow students. Each yoga class will have an intention with a spiritual message that will allow you to understand how we can incorporate philosophy into practice.

Scheduled activities will take place after dinner and will include: Moonlight Flow, Bedtime Yin Yoga, Yoga Movies, Beach Bonfires, Local Festivals, Sunset Drumming and Ecstatic Dance.

Vinyasa Flow Morning Practice will take place on alternate days. These classes will demonstrate dynamic sequencing that will inspire you to teach your own classes. The experienced teachers will guide you through each of the 2 hour sessions, taking you on a journey. Classes may work towards a peak posture, tell a story or set a particular technical intention. Classes will introduce you to new postures and techniques to achieve them. Each week, Vinyasa Flow Classes will cover Hip Opening, Back Bending and Strength.

Certification

Upon completion of this teacher training course, you will receive a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certificate. This certification will allow you to begin teaching as soon as you please anywhere in the world.

Time Off

The schedule can be changed according to the group and weather. The venue is situated right on Patnem Beach, metres away from the sea. Students are encouraged to appreciate some quiet beach time after an intense morning practice. And, it is never too far to go for a lunchtime beach nap or a dip in the sea between classes for a much needed cooling down.

The 4-share cottages are situated in the Sattva campus and are a great option for students that are on a low budget but are still looking to experience a high-quality teacher training. All dormitories come with two double-sized bunk beds and comfortable mattresses. Space to lock your valuables, mosquito nets and a fan as well as (shared) western style bathrooms make up some of the indoor features. Tucked away in between the lush greenery of the campus, the newly constructed tree house is a beautiful spot to find some quiet and unwind. It’s the perfect place to catch up on some homework and your readings or simply relax and enjoy your down time.

Choose to fall asleep nestled amongst the lush greenery of cashew, coconut and mango trees. A short 50m walk away from the Moksha campus and lovely Patnem beach, this relaxing garden accommodation offers the same comfort as the beachfront and ocean cottages. With western style toilet and shower facilities as well as double beds with a mosquito net and fan, lockable drawers, a private porch with a hammock and swinging chair you can make yourself feel right at home.

Yoga Village is a 5000-square-meter area, having access to both the beach and the roadside. It  comprises of 4 campuses: Moksha, meaning liberation or release which is the ocean view campus. Sattva, meaning purity or reality which is the garden campus. Shakti means Energy, ability, strength, effort, power, capability. Samadhi means a state of intense concentration achieved through meditation. These are located next to each other with Moksha situated right on the beach and Sattva directly behind it.

Yoga Village is decorated with glimmering lights and vibrantly coloured muslin. Swinging beds await your enjoyment along with many other cosy places to take chai, study, chat, sunbathe - the choice is yours. Many of these places are fitted with fans to keep you cool during the midday heat.


The village has an eco friendly solar power supply, providing hot water and electricity throughout the day. Facilities also include washing machines for your laundry, beach towels, cleaning products for you to maintain your room and housekeeping services.

Cottages are available on a single/double or sharing basis and dormitories are on a 4 person sharing basis.
