Location

Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica

Sitting on the western edge of the Nicoya Peninsula, Santa Teresa is a tiny beach village that draws in a lot of surfers and beach bodies. In the last several years, this laid-back town has blossomed into a booming travel destination. Despite its size, Santa Teresa has been hailed as world-class surfing spot in Costa Rica - with gorgeous white sandy beaches and swells that put a smile on surfers' faces year-round.

With consistent off-shore winds, Santa Teresa boasts swells that have been known to attract surfers from all over the globe. Even with its amazing surf the waters here are not localized, welcoming surfers of any level. Bringing in the Pacific waters, waves range from moderate to strong. Although surfing conditions are top-notch through the year, the best time to visit Santa Teresa beach is from May to December, which is the tropical rainy season called the "green season." During this time, the waves are at their peak and there are many barrels to be ridden. Bright sun and gleaming sands make the perfect backdrop to hang ten in the crystal-clear waters, and fishing, snorkeling and kite-surfing are popular among holiday-makers. Yoga and spa services are a must for the ultimate relaxation, and, at night, catch a glorious sunset on the same beach where earlier you caught a wave.

The fastest way to arrive in Santa Teresa is by catching a ferry from Paquera. The boat ride lasts about 65 minutes, curving around the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. Another option is taking a domestic flight from the Juan Santa Maria International Airport near San Jose to the Tambor Domestic Airport, which is a 25-minute flight. From here, you can find a bus or taxi that will head southwest approximately 35 kilometers.

Food

Your retreat package includes a daily wellness breakfast at the organic health food restaurant. You will also receive a delicious organic detox smoothie with greens and cacao each morning.

Also offers vegan and vegetarian dining throughout the day, sourcing the freshest local organic ingredients to use in their extensive menu. Gluten-free and raw options are available, allowing you the opportunity to self-initiate a cleanse as part of your retreat. You can even contact your retreat in advance to discuss dietary requirements and ask for them to create a bespoke meal plan to assist you on your wellness journey.

A huge range of fresh salads is on offer, inspired by the local and seasonal organic produce. A global fusion of culinary inspiration fills the menu, with deliciously healthy wraps and burgers joining Thai, Indian and Italian dishes.

Nautilus Boutique Hotel, Venue for 7 Day Deluxe Yoga Surf Retreat

Combining the benefits of a world-class hotel with the intimacy, comfort and personalised service of a luxury villa, Nautilus Boutique Hotel strikes a perfect balance.

Each secluded villa boasts a fully equipped kitchen, ensuite bathroom with a collection of organic bath products, air conditioning and wifi, with its own private balcony on which to unwind, relax and bask on the tropical surroundings of southern Costa Rica.

At the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, the small town of Santa Teresa has been described as ‘the New Tulum’ - a haven where the ocean meets the jungle, unspoiled by tourism and offering exquisite, natural serenity.

World-class waves, rainforest exploration, hidden waterfalls and a host of activities present themselves in this divine location. Nautilus Boutique Hotel is the perfect venue for a romantic escape or rejuvenative retreat, allowing you to disconnect and take time with yourself, for yourself.

The beach village of Playa Santa Teresa is located in the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. Private and secluded, Playa Santa Teresa lies on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, and is roughly 150 km west of the capital city San Jose and is situated north of the very popular Playa Mal Pais, about 12 kilometers South East of Cobano. Santa Teresa is a quaint, small town and they don't use addresses in the traditional sense! There's only one main road in town so we use landmarks rather than numbers to share our location. Directional signs for Nautilus Boutique Hotel are clearly marked around town. If you're taking a taxi from anywhere on the peninsula all you need to say is "Hotel Nautilus, Santa Teresa" and they will know how to find it!
